This Week in Kindergarten…
Popcorn Words
this, is, his, green– We had blast learning these new words this week! The kinders found several of our popcorn words in books that they were reading.
Writers Workshop
This week in writing we worked on writing three page books about what we know about something. Together we wrote about our classroom. We drew pictures, added labels and even added a sentence. We talked about how it is important that our sentence matches our drawing. This booklet along with their other writing from this unit went home on Thursday.
Readers Workshop
This week in reading the kinders practiced sounding like a teacher when they were reading! They also learned how to be storybook readers. Storybooks are books that readers may have read before and can enjoy reading again and again. Some of the story books that we are reading in the classroom are the Three Billy Goats Gruff, Hansel and Gretel, Chicken Little, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Three Little Pigs! We will continue to use these texts while we explore the story book unit!

Math
We practiced comparing, identifying and counting numbers 1-10 using graphs and our counting mats! We also worked on writing numbers 1-3 and identifying groups of numbers 1-5.
ABC Bootcamp:
We worked on the following letters this week Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp and Qq.
Walk-a-Thon:
We had the walk-a-thon this morning and had a blast!! The weather was perfect and the kids burned off their energy first thing this morning by running. Thank you to everyone for participating and collecting donations! Donations are accepted through October 1st. Please check out the pictures below:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
LIBRARY: Every week we go to the Library on Tuesday. Please have your child return their library book by Tuesday morning so they can check out a new book!
OCTOBER CALENDAR: The new October calendar will be coming home today. Please be on the look out for it.
